Concrete Construction Process for New Homes in Florida
As your Florida concrete contractor, we make sure that every aspect of new home construction is executed with great attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. Here we illustrate the basic steps to the construction of concrete walls so you can see and understand the benefits of this innovative construction process.
In either a coastal or mainland home the proper foundation is placed, whether it is concrete pilings, footings, or slab on grade. |
The reinforced structural concrete slab foundation for the home is created; concrete forms are erected achieving 4-inch reinforced concrete walls with 2 inches of insulation on the exterior and 6-inch concrete floors/ceilings. |
Electrical boxes, conduit, plumbing, and mechanical sleeves are cast in place. |
Concrete is poured into the wall and deck forms. In just one day, the reinforced concrete is sufficiently cured and the concrete forms are removed. Work begins on the second level if a two-story home. Walls, ceilings, and stairs are placed monolithically. |
2nd floor walls and attic floor decking are poured to enclose steel, and 2nd floor porch decking is poured. |
The finished interior concrete walls and ceilings are so flat and smooth, drywall is not needed. Walls and ceilings are plastered, sanded, and painted. The exterior of the house can be finished with stucco, brick, siding, or any material of your choice.
The roof is framed of lumber or steel atop the concrete deck that forms the first or second level's ceiling. This process allows architectural flexibility in roof design while keeping the wood or steel used for the roof framing outside the home's fire-resistant thermal concrete envelope. |
